Shortly after dawn on the last day of our trip, M/V Ursa
Major was underway, making way for Juneau. The trip up Stephens Passage was somber...our trip of a
lifetime was coming to an end. As we approached Juneau, the number of purse-seiners increased and the
weather turned to overcast then to drizzle. Unfortunately we were running out of film. Lesson learned;
Joyce was right...take more film than you ever think you would use!
We bid farewell to Captain Ron, Chef Rich and First Mate Josh at the city docks.
It seemed that we'd become such good friends in the last 7 days.
We embarked on a walking tour of the Juneau tourist area. There were 3 cruise ships
in Juneau and people everywhere. What a shock after spending the last week in peace, quiet and beauty. We
sought refuge in the Alaskan Hotel and Bar to allow ourselves to readjust. (the photo didn't survive but
it's a beautifully restored old hotel).
After several readjustments, Maria felt that she was ready to check out the Souvineer
shops.
We flew back to Anchorage via Alaskan Airlines (we definately recommend them) to
catch our red-eye to Florida.
